I went to Doctor Abbasi after going to physical therapy for 30 sessions for a medial meniscus tear. The physical therapy definitely helped build strength but still had reduced range of motion and pain for my sport activity which is dancing (ballet, jazz). I wanted to give physical therapy a chance before considering PRP. After speaking with Dr Abbasi who is expertly knowledgeable, I decided to do my first round of PRP. It truly was a breeze, thanks to his medical assistants Karla and Kayla who assisted. Doctor Abassi is a pro at doing PRP. For me, it was as easy as getting a flu shot.. I went back a month later for follow up and concluded my improvement was about 50 to 60% better for pain and overall mobility. I can now sit down in a squat position with both knees to put on my dog’s leash as well as do some yoga movements which I could not do before like a yogi squat. I also have more mobility in my affected knee during dance classes. Dr. Abassi explained that a second round of PRP would likely benefit based on the many patients he has seen and also his own personal experience with PRP. Although there are no guarantees, I feel that it’s worth it in the long run for my quality of life and being able to continue my passion for dance In my retirement. I had my second PRP today and hoping for even more improvement. The office is impeccable and the staff caring and competent. Worth looking into especially if your injury is holding you back from what you love to do or affecting daily routine.

Shoulder Pain
Comprehensive evaluation and treatment of shoulder injuries, from conservative care to arthroscopic surgery.
Shoulder Injury Treatment
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, allowing the arm to reach, lift, throw and rotate, and that range of motion also makes it vulnerable to injury. When shoulder pain or an injury limits movement, even everyday tasks become difficult. At PRIME Orthopedics & Regenerative Center, Dr. Abbasi, board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, offers non-surgical, regenerative and arthroscopic treatment, with every plan designed to restore mobility.
Shoulder Injuries We Treat
Rotator Cuff Tear
A tear in the tendons that hold the upper arm bone in the socket as the arm lifts and rotates, from an injury or gradual wear.
Labral Tear
Damage to the rim of cartilage that deepens the shoulder socket, including SLAP tears at the top of the socket.
Shoulder Dislocation
The ball forced out of the socket, often tearing the labrum and leaving the shoulder prone to dislocating again.
Biceps Tendon Tear
Damage to the long head of the biceps tendon at the front of the shoulder, from a partial tear to a complete rupture.
Pectoralis Tendon Tear
A tear of the chest tendon where it attaches to the upper arm, most often during a heavy bench press.
Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tear
A rotator cuff tear too large or too retracted to repair directly.
Shoulder Arthritis
Wear of the cartilage surfaces of the joint, causing pain, stiffness and grinding.
AC Joint Separation
An injury to the joint where the collarbone meets the top of the shoulder blade, usually from a fall.
Frozen Shoulder
Thickening and tightening of the joint capsule that progressively limits movement.
Failed Previous Shoulder Surgery
A repair that has not healed, instability that has returned, or a new injury after surgery.

Common Questions
Do I need a referral?
No. You may contact the office directly. If your insurance plan requires a referral, our staff will let you know.
Should I have imaging before my appointment?
It is not required. Please bring any existing X-rays or MRI results, and Dr. Abbasi will order additional imaging if needed.
Do you take insurance?
Most PPO plans are accepted for consultations and surgical care. Regenerative injections are paid for directly. Please call the office to confirm what applies to your plan.
Will I need surgery?
Not necessarily. Many shoulder injuries are treated without surgery. Surgery is recommended when conservative treatment is not expected to be sufficient.
I have had previous shoulder surgery. Can you help?
Yes. Dr. Abbasi performs revision shoulder surgery when a previous procedure has not succeeded. Evaluation begins by identifying the cause.
Is shoulder surgery performed arthroscopically?
Most shoulder operations are performed arthroscopically, through a few small incisions with a camera, rather than by opening the joint. This also allows the whole joint to be examined during the same procedure.
