Foot & Ankle Pain

Comprehensive evaluation and treatment of foot and ankle injuries, from conservative care to surgery.

Foot & Ankle Injury Treatment

The foot and ankle carry the full weight of the body with every step, balancing flexibility with strength to support walking, running and changing direction. When foot or ankle pain or an injury limits that movement, even walking can become difficult. At PRIME Orthopedics & Regenerative Center, Dr. Abbasi, board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, offers non-surgical, regenerative and surgical treatment, with every plan designed to restore mobility.

Foot & Ankle Injuries We Treat

Achilles Tendon Rupture

A complete tear of the tendon at the back of the ankle, often with an audible snap and difficulty pushing off.

Achilles Tendinitis

Pain and thickening in the Achilles tendon from repeated load, often worst at the start of activity.

Ankle Sprain

Stretching or tearing of the ligaments on the outer side of the ankle, usually from rolling it.

Chronic Ankle Instability

An ankle that keeps giving way after a sprain that never fully recovered.

Ankle Fracture

A break in one or more bones of the ankle, which may need surgical repair to heal in proper alignment.

Ankle Arthritis

Wear of the ankle's joint surfaces, causing pain, stiffness and swelling.

What Brings People In

Ask About a Consultation
  • Stepping off a curb or walking on uneven ground.
  • Standing through a long day at work.
  • Going up on your toes, or climbing stairs.
  • A run, a match or a round of golf that ends in pain.
  • Shoes that have become uncomfortable to wear.
  • A roll or a twist during sport, and it has not been right since.

Common Questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You may contact the office directly. If your insurance plan requires a referral, our staff will let you know.

Should I have imaging before my appointment?

It is not required. Please bring any existing X-rays or MRI results, and Dr. Abbasi will order additional imaging if needed.

Do you take insurance?

Most PPO plans are accepted for consultations and surgical care. Regenerative injections are paid for directly. Please call the office to confirm what applies to your plan.

Will I need surgery?

Not necessarily. Most ankle injuries are treated without surgery, with rest, physical therapy, bracing or orthotics, and medication. Surgery is recommended when conservative treatment is not expected to be sufficient.

My ankle keeps rolling. Can that be treated?

Yes. Recurrent instability is usually treated first with strengthening, balance training and bracing for sport. Ligament reconstruction is considered when the ankle continues to give way.

Do you treat Achilles tendon injuries?

Yes. Achilles tendinitis is usually managed with a structured strengthening program, and a rupture may be treated with or without surgery depending on the injury and your activity level.

I went to Doctor Abbasi after going to physical therapy for 30 sessions for a medial meniscus tear. The physical therapy definitely helped build strength but still had reduced range of motion and pain for my sport activity which is dancing (ballet, jazz). I wanted to give physical therapy a chance before considering PRP. After speaking with Dr Abbasi who is expertly knowledgeable, I decided to do my first round of PRP. It truly was a breeze, thanks to his medical assistants Karla and Kayla who assisted. Doctor Abassi is a pro at doing PRP. For me, it was as easy as getting a flu shot.. I went back a month later for follow up and concluded my improvement was about 50 to 60% better for pain and overall mobility. I can now sit down in a squat position with both knees to put on my dog’s leash as well as do some yoga movements which I could not do before like a yogi squat. I also have more mobility in my affected knee during dance classes. Dr. Abassi explained that a second round of PRP would likely benefit based on the many patients he has seen and also his own personal experience with PRP. Although there are no guarantees, I feel that it’s worth it in the long run for my quality of life and being able to continue my passion for dance In my retirement. I had my second PRP today and hoping for even more improvement. The office is impeccable and the staff caring and competent. Worth looking into especially if your injury is holding you back from what you love to do or affecting daily routine.

Dr. Abbasi and his staff are kind, caring, and compassionate. I never felt rushed nor pushed towards a specific treatment. Rather, Dr. Abbasi explained and educated me on my issue along with treatment options. Together, we laid out a plan we both felt were best for me. I’ve had great results so far, and highly recommend him.

Dr. Abbasi was highly recommended to me from a friend and he did not disappoint. He helped me tremendously with my tibial plateau fracture and guided me through the regenerative route with PRP therapy. The first injection helped exponentially, and we just did my second today hoping for even more improvement. Also, the girls at the front desk are always so sweet and welcoming!
